Auslan Storytime is for all families. It’s a State Government–funded bilingual storytime that gives both Deaf and hearing children access to early literacy in a fun, inclusive way. The session is led by a Deaf educator from Expression Australia, with spoken English interpreted so everyone can follow along.
It helps Deaf children enjoy stories in their first language, and it gives hearing children an early introduction to Auslan and Deaf culture. Families also pick up simple signs they can use at home, which support children’s learning and communication beyond the library.
We encourage all our regular families to join us - it’s a great way to celebrate language, diversity, and inclusion together.
