Strategic Planning
Land use changes and new development can be challenging for our community.
For some there are concerns the rate of growth is too fast and may negatively impact the look and feel of their neighbourhood.
Others are excited about the opportunities those changes bring such as sustainable living and more affordable housing close to the city.
Our role is to balance both sides by ensuring:
- new housing options are in appropriate areas
- employment precincts remain attractive to a range of businesses
- we set directions for where certain levels of development are appropriate
- we set directions on how developments should respond to the existing character.
We prepare plans and strategies to guide future land use and development changes in Yarra.
