Our plan to revitalise Victoria Street
We’ve developed a plan to revitalise Victoria Street to make it more vibrant, safer and better supported to thrive.
Yarra City Council is aiming for Victoria Street to be a safe, vibrant and welcoming precinct.
Celebrated for its food, creativity, culture and retail experiences. Victoria Street is well served by accessible transport options, strong community connection and a resilient local economy. It has the foundations of a place where people will want to live, work and visit.
Why we need a plan
Victoria Street is a culturally significant and economically important precinct, renowned for its strong Vietnamese connection and for the contribution of residents and businesses who give the street its character.
But ongoing challenges related to safety, amenity and business confidence mean the precinct isn't reaching its potential.
Based on research, expert advice, and early feedback from stakeholders and our community, we’ve developed a plan that focuses on:
- delivering visible improvements to public spaces
- enhancing safety and amenity outcomes, and;
- providing the environment to attract new investment and development.
