Yarra City Council has libraries in Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton, Fitzroy and North Fitzroy, with a huge collection of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs available to borrow or browse.

Collingwood Library to close for maintenance in June

Collingwood Library will be closed for two weeks in June for building works.

The library will close at 2pm on Friday 15 June and is expected to reopen on Wednesday 4 July 2012.

The works are required to:

repair and reinstate floors at the interior perimeter of the building
to alter the ducts in the underfloor heating
to replace carpet on the main floor and children’s area of the library.

Seeking community feedback on the future of public libraries

A State Government Ministerial Advisory Council (MAC) is holding a review into roles and future functions of public libraries.

As part of the community consultation for this review, the State Government is asking people to take this short survey.

Victorians Love Libraries

As 2012 is the National Year of Reading join us in the Victorians Love Libraries campaign.

There are already 2.6 million public library members in Victoria. Yarra Libraries currently has over 49,000 members and we want to encourage the community to use our libraries more.

eBooks available to Yarra Libraries members

Council's library services now offer a number of services for readers to view and download eBooks as part of Yarra Libraries' membership services.
Choose eBooks from Bolinda Digital, Clipper/Wavesound or Project Gutenburg.
