Growth and new building development can be challenging for our community. For some people, the rate of growth can seem too fast. We hear from residents who are concerned that new development will affect their property or impact upon the look and feel of their neighbourhood. For others, new development can offer positive opportunities for more sustainable living and affordable housing close to the city.

Our role is to guide Yarra’s growth to ensure new housing occurs in appropriate areas that blends in with the existing character of Yarra, and offers good outcomes for the community. Strategic planning prepares plans and strategies that help guide future development in Yarra.
