Fresh upgrade for Williams Reserve

Williams Reserve, one of Richmond’s favourite parks has reopened to the public following a major upgrade.

We spoke to local residents and park users, who told us that Williams Reserve is a much-loved space and that upgrades should be subtle, building on the already well-functioning park.

We took on board suggestions for the final design which led to the planting of more native trees and bushes, as well as refreshed lawns of drought-resistant grass. This, along with the installation of a new irrigation system, will make sure that the park stays healthy and green throughout the year.

Improvements also include a brand-new playground, additional picnic tables in the BBQ area, a new footpath on Victoria Street and seating nooks under the newly-planted native trees for increased comfort.

A boulevard of new trees and a feature fence create a divide between the reserve and Victoria Street, separating it from traffic and providing local residents with a relaxed communal space.

We have maintained a large grassed area with plenty of open space for visitors to enjoy, so grab a picnic and bring your family and (furry) friends to the newly improved Williams Reserve.
