Your say on our four-year plan for Yarra

This is your chance to provide feedback on our next four-year plan for Yarra. All councils must produce a Council Plan every four years under the Local Government Act 2020. Yarra's draft Council Plan 2021-25: informs all our work, decision making and strategic direction outlines the strategic objectives, strategies, initiatives and indicators for the next four years to achieve our Community Vision incorporates our new Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan. What has informed the draft Council Plan 2021–25? When we developed our Yarra 2036 Community Vision, we asked for feedback that could also inform our Council Plan 2021–25 and long-term financial and asset plans. We've aligned the plan to your feedback and the Community Vision's themes and priorities. Long Term Financial Plan The Local Government Act 2020 also introduced a new requirement for all councils to prepare and adopt a Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) for period of at least the next 10 financial years by 31 October 2021. Our draft LTFP provides financial strategy principles, strategic actions, assumptions to the financial plan statements, financial performance indicators and strategies for borrowings and reserves. Yarra adopts new four-year plan

Yarra adopts new four-year plan Yarra Council’s new Council Plan 2021-25 was adopted last Tuesday, which will guide all its work for the next four years. It’s the first Council Plan developed under the Local Government Act 2020, and addresses the Yarra 2036 Community Vision. The Council Plan was informed by the extensive engagement process to develop the Community Vision. This engagement began in November 2020, where we heard from over 1,300 community members, including a 55-person deliberative community panel. It ended in September 2021 when the community was invited to provide feedback on a draft Council Plan. Yarra Mayor Cr Gabrielle de Vietri said she was proud to lead a plan that would build a climate-safe, equitable and liveable Yarra for everyone. “This plan outlines an exciting future for Yarra. We look forward to working with our community to ensure that our city continues to be a wonderful place to live, work, play and visit,” said Cr de Vietri. The Council Plan 2021-25 includes six Strategic Objectives that describe Council’s Strategic Direction for the next four years. They are: • Climate and environment • Social equity and health • Local economy • Place and nature • Transport and movement • Democracy and governance The Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) is also incorporated in the Council Plan. “I thank everyone who has contributed to the development of this important plan. Your insights, feedback and ideas have influenced and shaped our priorities for the future,” Cr de Vietri said. Next steps The Council Plan is delivered through our Annual Plan and Budget, which reflects Council’s decisions on the specific initiatives to be funded each year. Some, but not all, initiatives from the Council Plan will feature in the Annual Plan. We report progress on the Council Plan through quarterly reports and the Annual Report. This reporting ensures actions and projects are delivered on time and within budget, with any variations explained to maintain transparency.
