Yarra City Council is investing up to $1.2 million in local community projects as part of its 2025 Annual Grants program.

The annual grants program provides funding towards small to medium-sized projects that respond to the social, cultural, recreational, economic and sustainability needs of the Yarra community.

Funding is available to not-for-profit organisations working across health and wellbeing, climate action and sustainability, sports and recreation, arts and culture, as well as youth and family programs. Individual artists can also apply for funding through the arts grants stream. It’s part of our broader $2.4 million grants program.

Yarra’s Annual Grants program has had significant impact in the community over the last few years:

  • Not-for-profit social enterprise, The Community Grocer has been able to run weekly affordable fresh food markets at Atherton Gardens Estate in Fitzroy. These markets provide a safe and inclusive space for community members to access fresh food without the cost barriers.
  • All the Queens Men has been able to host their regular LGBTIQA+ Elders Dance Club events, creating a fun and welcoming space for LGBTIQA+ elders and allies to come together, learn new skills and socialise.
  • Arts Project Australia (APA) has been able to continue inspiring audiences in Yarra through their exhibitions, workshops, talks and events. The APA studio and gallery represents artists with intellectual disabilities, giving them agency to lead, and encouragement to explore, the issues that matter to them through their artwork.
  • Collingwood City Football Club has been able to establish an inclusive and vibrant sporting community, which offers opportunities from kindergarten through to Junior, Youth and Seniors teams for players of all abilities.

Whether it’s a one-off event or an ongoing program, Yarra’s Annual Grants support a wide range of initiatives aimed at strengthening our community, protecting nature and biodiversity, and creating thriving local spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Apply online by Wednesday 31 July.
