Sorry Day 2024: Commemorating the Stolen Generations in Yarra

Thursday 16 May 2024

Stolen Generations Marker

Join Blak Pearl Studios and Yarra City Council at the Stolen Generations Marker this Sorry Day to honour and commemorate the members of the Stolen Generations.

Each year on National Sorry Day, we honour the members of the Stolen Generations forcibly removed from their families and reflect on this deeply painful part of Australia's history.

We encourage everyone in Yarra to stand in solidarity and join us at our Sorry Day Smoking Ceremony and Community BBQ – presented in partnership with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creative collective, Blak Pearl Studios.

Drop by the Stolen Generations Marker at Atherton Gardens in Fitzroy for food, music and yarns with a Welcome to Country from Uncle Ringo Terrick.

Led by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, this event is an opportunity for everyone in Yarra to come together to show allyship and reflect on how we can all play a part in the journey towards reconciliation and healing.
