The Minister for Local Government, the Hon Shaun Leane MP, today advised that a municipal monitor would be appointed to Yarra City Council under section 179 of the Local Government Act 2020 to guide good governance and provide regular reports and recommendations to the Minister.

The monitor will work with Councillors and the Executive in undertaking its role. 

Further details on the appointment, process and timelines of the municipal monitor will be provided by the Minister in due course.
