Are you considering running as a candidate in the 2020 local government elections in Yarra?

Victorian local government elections will take place on Saturday 24 October 2020.

Candidate Information Sessions

Yarra City Council, in partnership with the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA), is offering free workshops for election candidates and anyone who may be considering standing for election this year.

The sessions will include important information on:

  • Roles and responsibilities of Councillors and Councils
  • Current issues facing local government
  • Candidate information for the 2020 elections
  • Campaign tips and tools

These sessions are free of charge and are conducted online. You can register your interest by following the links below:

Mandatory Candidate Training

Before standing for Council, every candidate must undertake mandatory candidate training, even if they have been a Councillor before or are currently a Councillor. These sessions will be run using an online eLearning module and will be delivered by Local Government Victoria. Details of how to complete this training requirement will be posted here as soon as they become available.
