Yarra’s Mayor Cr Daniel Nguyen has been appointed to the 2018 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel.

He is one of 12 mayors from municipalities across Victoria who will provide ongoing advice to the Minister for Local Government, Ms Marlene Kairouz.

The panel will consider issues that impact local government, including:

  • legislation, regulation and policy
  • the roles and responsibilities of local government in government programs and agreements
  • state responses to addressing challenges in the local government sector
  • state support for sector-wide improvements and innovations.

“I am delighted to have been selected for the advisory panel and for the opportunity to represent the interests and values of Yarra at a state government level,” Cr Nguyen said.

“I look forward to sharing my insights and contributing to advancing the local government sector, and the communities we serve,” he said.

Cr Nguyen will sit on the panel until October 2018.
