When you are selling property, you will need a Property Information Request from Council.
A Property Information Request (relating to building work) relates to Section 32 of the Sale of Land Act 1962.
How to apply
You can apply for a Property Information request online by visiting Council's eServices website.
Alternatively, you can print out and fill in the following request form:

Please mail your completed form to Yarra Building Services, PO Box 168, Richmond, 3121.
You can also make your application in person at the Building Services at the Richmond Town Hall (333 Bridge Road). Please bring identification.
You will be required to provide identification and proof of ownership, such as a rates notice.
If you are not the owner of the property, you must produce written authorisation from the owner to obtain copies of the plans.

Council can supply copies of property plans if:
- your property is in Fairfield and a building permit was issued later than 1990
- your property is in all other areas of the City of Yarra and the building permit was issued later than 1960.
If the building was constructed prior to 1960 the Council cannot supply plans. Your local library or historical society may be able to assist.
Your application will be processed within 10 working days.

The cost for viewing archived files are:
$78 for residents
$130 for commercial
Please note that there is an additional fee for photocopies of plans.
