Disability services
Council is committed to assisting people with disabilities.
With financial assistance from State and Federal Governments under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program, Council provides support services to protect and enhance the health, well-being and independence of people with disabilities.
Our services also support carers. We care about your well-being and the well-being of those you care for, and we aim to assist you and your household to maintain your preferred lifestyle and independence.
Please feel confident that Yarra Council is only a phone call away for practical support, guidance and care.

Council’s submission to Productivity Commission
In May 2011, Council, in consultation with Yarra’s Disability Advisory Committee, provided a submission to the Productivity Commission in response to its draft report, Disability Care and Support.
The report recommends significant reforms to services for people with a disability, including the introduction of a National Disability Insurance Scheme, which would be managed by the Federal Government and provide funding packages to individuals.
Council’s submission provides feedback on the reforms from the City of Yarra perspective, and includes eight recommendations.
