New guidelines adopted for pop-up gardens in laneways

Council has introduced a new process to balance the interests of all community members in utilising and accessing Yarra’s laneways.

The process provides a framework for establishing future ‘pop up’ gardens, while maintaining the rights of all property owners to have unrestricted access to their property.

Following a period of community consultation and consideration of several public submissions, Council adopted the new process at its Ordinary Meeting of Tuesday 19 May.

Council also directed officers to review of the process in conjunction with the Urban Agriculture Advisory Committee after six months. Officers will then provide recommendations back to Council.
