Council to investigate heritage protection for the Mary Glowery Building

Council last night resolved to undertake a heritage assessment of 115 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy (also known as the Mary Glowery Building).
While the resolution was made in confidential session, it also authorised Council officers to make the decision public.
Resolution of Monday 19 Septmeber 2016
- note the officer report in relation to 115 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, former Commonwealth Note and Stamp printing building (also known as the Mary Glowery Building);
- authorise officers to engage a suitably qualified heritage professional to undertake a detailed assessment of the building’s appropriateness to be nominated for State heritage protection and if appropriate, authorise officer’s to arrange for nomination to occur and any necessary representation;
- receive a report from officers as soon as possible if the advice of the suitably qualified heritage professional suggests that nomination to the State Heritage Register should not occur, outlining the reasons why; and
- determine to make the resolution public.
