Creating a safe, vibrant Victoria Street precinct
17 June 2015
Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Victoria Street Streetscape Masterplan which aims to create a safe and vibrant precinct in the 2.1 kilometre stretch of Victoria Street extending from Hoddle Street to the Yarra River.
Members of our community and businesses are invited to provide their feedback on the draft masterplan over a four week period from Monday 22 June until close of business on Friday 17 July, 2015.
The draft masterplan will guide future streetscape improvements in this precinct with the objective of retaining its community identity and economic vitality. The preparation of a masterplan was one of the strategies of the Victoria Street Structure Plan which Council adopted in 2010.
The draft masterplan contains six primary objectives designed to benefit residents, businesses and the wider community and identifies seven key projects that will create new and attractive spaces and foster a greater sense of community, promote a safer night-time environment and give the area a fresh and vibrant look.
For information on how you can provide feedback visit http://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/victoria-streetscape-masterplan/
Following the community consultation, Council officers will review the feedback and prepare a report for Council including a recommendation to either endorse or amend the Draft Victoria Street Streetscape Masterplan.
