Ramsden Street Reserve
Council is constructing a multi-purpose sports court and new cricket nets at Ramsden Street Oval.
In July, Council endorsed the construction of a multi-use Court and cricket nets facility at the north-east corner of the Ramsden Street Oval.
Council's contractor will commence works in the week beginning Monday 1 September and the project comprises the following:
- A court of 40 m x 16 m, concrete base carpeted in synthetic turf
- Perimeter fence with openings for all abilities access
- Provision for the installation of poles and nets to create four cricket practice nets
- Provision for the removal of cricket nets to create a multi-use court which will be suitable for informal play, such as small sided soccer or other ball games
The project will cost $120,000 and is fully funded through Yarra's Open Space Capital Works Program.
At the conclusion of the works, the old cricket nets will be demolished and the area landscaped to increase lawn and garden beds area, plant four trees and install another picnic table, near the BBQ.
