Councillor equipment
Please find below the Councillor Equipment section of the Yarra Councillors' Code of Conduct:
12. Councillor Equipment
Councillors are issued with equipment, meeting Council’s IT standards, in order to facilitate Council related communications between the community, Council staff and Councillors. Councillors may choose to be supplied with the standard equipment or elect to purchase their own units (non-standard) and be reimbursed up to the same value of the equivalent standard unit.
Councillors are encouraged to make use of their home telephones rather than mobile telephones, where circumstances permit, to help reduce costs to Council.
Council will make standard equipment available to Councillors that assists Councillors to undertake their duties as Councillors.
Councillors are required to sign an agreement for the use of a Council telephone, mobile telephone, Personal Data Assistant (PDA), personal computer (laptop or desktop), and a multi-function unit.
When the home telephone, mobile phone or fax machine is used for private purposes (non-Council business), Councillors are to reimburse Council for the amount of excessive personal use in accordance with the Councillor Expense Entitlement Policy.
