Cr Anthony Main

Cr Anthony MainCr Main was elected in January 2011. He has lived in Yarra for more than a decade and now resides in North Fitzroy.

He is a representative of the Nicholls Ward, which takes in North Carlton, Princes Hill, North Fitzroy and parts of Clifton Hill, Collingwood and Fitzroy.

Cr Main, a metal worker by trade, is the Secretary of UNITE, a trade union that represents young fast food and retail workers. He is also a member of the Socialist Party.

Some of his priorities include support for low income residents and campaigning for more childcare places. He is also calling for an indoor sports centre to be built in the municipality.

“Inappropriate development is a major concern to many residents," Cr Main said.

"We need to make sure that all new developments are within reason and are matched with social services like public transport, childcare and community centres.”

Cr Main said he was committed to supporting live music and the arts and is campaigning for the return of a Yarra-based music festival.

He is a member of Council's Live Music Working Group and the North Fitzroy Community Hub Community Design Reference Group.

He can be contacted on 9205 5053, 0407 529 658 or at Anthony.Main@yarracity.vic.gov.au
