Business Advisory Group

The Business Advisory Group provides strategic advice to Council on issues that affect the business community.

The group meets quarterly, and is chaired by Yarra’s Mayor Cr Geoff Barbour. Councillors Jackie Fristacky and Amanda Stone are also members of the committee.

Aims

The aims of the Business Advisory Group (BAG) include:

• Capitalising on the knowledge, experience and skill available in Yarra’s large and dynamic local business community to assist Council with the implementation of the objectives in the Yarra Economic Development Strategy
  
  
• Raising the profile of the business community in Council activities and planning to support the significant contribution made to our local economy
  
  
• Ensuring that a key sector of the community is provided with an appropriate communication mechanism with Council, and
  
  
• Providing strategic advice to Council on issues that affect the business community.

Members

New members have been selected for BAG after Council called for nominations in December 2011/January 2012.  The selection of the following members was endorsed by BAG at its February 2012 meeting:

• Hershel Landes, Owner, Landes Clothing (Richmond)
• Arthur Leoncelli, Owner, ProColour (Collingwood)
• Johnson Zhang, Director, Quest Royal Gardens Serviced Apartments (Fitzroy)
