Australia Day Awards

girls with gum leaves at cultural eventCouncil's Australia Day awards recognise individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the Yarra community whether through community service, or service in the fields of sport, arts and culture, environment or business and economic development.

Awards for Citizen, Young Citizen and Woman of the Year, as well as Community Service and Community Event of the Year were presented at Council's annual Australia Day citizenship ceremony on 26 January 2012.

Here is information about the 2012 Australia Day award winners.

Each year Council calls for nominations from the local community for the awards, with a panel of Councillors and Council officers then deciding on the recipients. To find out about nominating someone you know for next year's awards, check this webpage again in November.
