Loading zones

A loading zone signLoading zones are clearly signed areas set aside for short-term use when vehicles are loading or unloading goods for business or dropping off or picking up passengers. If you require a loading zone for your business, you will need to apply to Council.

Yarra City Council
PO Box 168

You should include the following information in your application:

  • type of business
  • times of operation
  • reasons for request
  • type of delivery

Depending on the circumstances, and if you application is approved, you may be charged for the cost of works associated with installation of the loading zone.

Signs will be erected and road marking carried out within 4-6 weeks of approval. Signage and line marking may cost you approximately $200.

Is your property eligible?

There are some circumstances where you cannot apply for a loading zone. These include:

  • If there is an existing loading bay within the property.
