Watch Around Water

Watch Around Water logoYarra Leisure is proud to provide a safe and family friendly environment where children can enjoy the water.

In 2009, Yarra Leisure introduced new Watch Around Water regulations to help keep young children safe in and around the water.

Watch around Water is designed to increase the proportion of parents/guardians who adequately supervise their children in public aquatic facilities.

Watch around Water does this through the promotion of a series of policies.

Guidelines

  • Children under 5 years of age must be constantly supervised by a parent/guardian. Adequate supervision requires the parent/guardian to remain within arm’s reach of the child at all times.

  • Parents/Guardians may only supervise up to a maximum of 3 children under the age of 5 at any one time.

  • Children under the age of 10 years will not be admitted without an appropriate parent/guardian.

  • For children under the age of ten years the parent/guardian must be positioned to have a clear view of the child with no physical or structural barriers.

These regulations apply to all aquatic facilities in Yarra – the Richmond Recreation Centre , Collingwood Leisure Centre and the Fitzroy Swimming Pool.

Watch Around Water is supported by Aquatics and Recreation Victoria, Life Saving Victoria and the ‘Play it Safe by the Water’ campaign.
