Financial Counselling
Yarra City Council provides free financial counselling to residents who are experiencing financial difficulty. The service also aims to educate and inform the community about their rights and responsibilities on consumer and credit related matters.
The service is located at Collingwood Town Hall and jointly funded by Council and Consumer Affairs Victoria.
The service provides information, education and advocacy on a range of topics including:
- payment to creditors
- utility bills
- telephone bills
- rent
- credit cards
- bankruptcy
- child support
- government benefits.
Council’s financial counsellors are also available to conduct workshops or give talks to community groups on a wide range of topics.
