Disability Action Plan

man in scooter crossing road Council is committed to reducing the barriers that people living with a disability can face. Council and the Disability Advisory Committee have developed a vision for the future through the Disability Action Plan 2010 - 2013. The plan contains four strategic directions and eight key result areas.

The framework for the Disability Action Plan has been developed through substantial research and consultation and supports the broad objectives of reducing barriers to access, participation and inclusion. Council will undertake annual assessment of the Disability Action Plan to ensure progress in achieving the objectives and outcomes contained within it.

Each branch of Council will review the actions they have committed to and Council will report on progress in its Annual Report. The overall success of the Disability Action Plan will be evaluated in 2013, prior to initiating a new plan.
