Peel Street Pride Fair

Rainbow FlagThe Peel Street Pride Fair is an afternoon street party held in Collingwood in early summer.

The second Pride event in Yarra took place on Sunday 11 December 2011 between 2pm- 8pm.

Council approved $25,000 in-kind and logistical support to go to the festival's organisers Pride March Victoria Inc.

On the day of the festival, Peel Street is temporarily closed between Smith and Wellington streets to make way for an entertainment stage, marquees and street vendors.

One of the fair's most anticipated events is the crowning of the King and Queen of Pride 2012.

In 2010 and 2011, Council resolved to exempt the festival site from Local Law 8, which prohibits the public consumption of alcohol.

This means festival patrons were allowed to consume alcohol within the entire festival site between 2pm and 8pm, rather than only in designated licensed areas.
