State Government review of planning system

The State Government is conducting a review into Victoria's planning system.

In July 2011, the Minister for Planning called for submissions on ways to improve the planning system. Submissions were due by 31 August 2011.

The review is being conducted by an Advisory Committee, which will report back to the Minister with recommendations.

The Committee will consider the whole planning system, including the provisions of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and how it works, the State and local policy provisions, the operation of zones and overlays, the use of incorporated and reference documents, and the way permit applications and rezoing requests are dealt with.

You can find out more information about the review on this Department of Planning and Community Development webpage.
