Planning For All of Melbourne

Sunny CTHThe State Government released Planning For All of Melbourne in May 2008.

This report sets out a framework for action for the next five years in response to the findings of the Melbourne 2030 Audit Expert Group Report, 2008. It includes actions in four key areas:

  • Planning for all of Melbourne
  • Transport and managing congestion
  • Environmental sustainability and climate change
  • Managing urban growth and change

There are several actions that are of particular interest for Yarra:

  • The establishment of Development Assessment Committees (DACs) to make planning decisions in relation to principal activity centres and sites considered to be of State, regional or metropolitan significance.
  • The State Government working with councils to develop clear requirements for the amount and diversity of housing needed in each municipality and to implement the new residential zones.
  • An action to introduce a new flexible Activity Centre Zone which would be accompanied by a tailored development framework for each centre.
  • Working with councils to implement the Inner Melbourne Action Plan.
