North Richmond Community Health redevelopment
The State Government is undertaking a $24 million redevelopment of the North Richmond Community Health Centre in Lennox Street, Richmond.
The first stage of the redevelopment has been completed. Expanded health services are now operating out of the new building, which was officially opened in mid-September 2011.
Here is a link to a State Government media release about the redeveloped centre.
New Maternal and Child Health Centre
The next stage of the redevelopment involves the construction of a new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) centre.
Council has provided $900,000 for the MCH centre to be built. This centre is expected to open at the site by late 2012. Here is a Council media release welcoming the redevelopment and the new MCH centre.
It is proposed that once the new centre is operational, Council will close the existing MCH centre in Church Street, Richmond.
As part of the second stage of the redevelopment which is to be completed by late 2012, the former health centre building will be demolished and landscaping works will be undertaken.
