Ticket machines
You will find ticket machines in some streets in Yarra where there is high demand for parking, such as shopping strips. Paid parking ensures a fair and regular turnover of parking spaces.
There are approximately 6,000 on-street spaces in Yarra covered by ticket machines. The time restrictions associated with the parking spaces are indicated on the signs. Always check the signs for time restrictions before leaving your parked vehicle.
When you've stayed as long as the permitted time allows, you must move your vehicle.
It is prohibited to continue adding coins to a ticket machine to stay longer than the permitted time. You must comply with the time restrictions displayed on the signs.
Fees
Hourly rates for ticketed parking range from $2.80 to $3.30 per hour.
P-ticket parking (all day parking) is $2.80 per hour or $8 for all day.
Payment
Our ticket machines accept coins. There are currently no credit card or telephone payment facilities available for payment.
Please be aware that you need to make payment immediately. You can be issued with a parking fine if you leave your vehicle unattended to get change for the ticket machine.
How to report a faulty machine
If you are having difficulties with a ticket machine, contact Yarra City Council. We recommend that you report the faulty machine. Here’s what to do:
- Ring 03 9205 5253 to report the faulty machine or, if you prefer, fill out the Faulty Meter Report online.
- Leave details of the machine number (displayed on the machine), your vehicle registration number and the approximate time.
- If possible, purchase a ticket from the nearest working ticket machine.
Remember, even if the parking machine is out of order, you must still comply with the time restrictions that apply to that parking space.
