How to use the catalogue

Yarra Libraries catalogue guides

The following guides are available to assist you with using the catalogue:

Catalogue Quick Tips

What is my User ID?

Your User ID is the barcode or the number on your library card

What is my PIN?

  • Your PIN is your unique, personal identification number.
  • If you already have one, you will not need to change it.
  • If you are not sure of your PIN, please ask a member of staff.

How do I renew my items?

  • Log in to your account using your User ID and PIN.
  • Click on the 'My Account' button.
  • Click on 'Renew My Materials' – from here you can either choose to renew all your loans, or select which individual items you would like to extend.

How do I place a hold on an item?

  • Search for the item you wish to place on hold.
  • Once you have found the item, click the 'Details' button to the left of the title.
  • Once you are in the 'Item Information' screen, click 'Place Hold' (this is found to the left of the title information).
  • Unless you are already signed in, you will need to enter your User ID and PIN.
  • Select the library which you wish to pick the item.
  • You will be notified when your item is ready to collect.

Can I 'suspend' my held items?

Items on hold can be suspended through My Account in eLibraries or by asking the staff. This is convenient if you are going on holiday, because you will not lose your place in the hold queue. Once your hold is ready to be picked up it cannot be suspended.

  • Log in to your account using your User ID and PIN.
  • Click on the 'My Account' button.
  • Click on Holds - from here you can activate or suspend selected holds.
