Bridge Road (3)Take a ride of a lifetime over Richmond then make the most of the area’s diverse shopping and dining.

Start the day with a bird’s eye view of Melbourne with Global Ballooning. Because of the early start, a taxi is probably the best way to get to the meeting point at the Hilton on the Park, from where you will be taken to the day’s launch site. You’ll be in the air for around an hour, gaining a whole new perspective on the city below. After the flight it’s back to the Hilton for a celebratory champagne breakfast.

From the Hilton it’s a short walk or tram ride along Wellington Parade to Bridge Road, a renowned destination for both the variety of fashion on offer and its friendly cafés and bars.

If you need an image change, Exentrix, is a good place to start. With local and imported designer clothing in individual styles by young up-and-coming Australian and international designers, Exentrix is full of unique fashion items designed to make a statement.

Further along, Guava Jelly Galimafree is a vintage emporium housing a diverse mix of pre-loved accessories, homewares and jewellery. With pieces mainly from the early 20th century, all the items that you will find here were made with great care and are still functional and beautiful.

Take in all the sights and sounds of Bridge Road and the fascinating environs of Richmond as you continue along to Burnley Street and The Grand for a relaxing lunch in an award-winning dining room. Simple, authentic Italian food is served with an emphasis on quality ingredients. This is a popular culinary sanctuary for Melburnians so make sure you book in advance.

After lunch walk back along Burnley Street past a range of furniture and homeware stores to Victoria Street. A visit to the Orient Express showroom, café and warehouse provides a glimpse into China's past and showcases the beauty, diversity and craftsmanship of its furniture.

A number 109 (Port Melbourne) tram takes you to the Good Shepherd Trading Circle, established by the Good Shepherd Sisters to support women in micro-enterprises worldwide. Children’s gifts, bags and purses, cards and bookmarks, homewares, accessories and fabrics are all available and you will be supporting fair trade and solidarity with women and their families.

Victoria Street is known as 'Little Saigon' and is a vibrant centre for Melbourne’s Vietnamese community. The unique aromas and exotic fruits and vegetables on display will remind your tastebuds that it’s been a long day and that it’s probably time for dinner. Stop in at any one of the many wonderful restaurants where the food choices are endless and reasonably priced.
