Free public Wi-Fi pilot
After trialling free public Wi-Fi in three local shopping strips since October 2015, Council will bring the program to an end on Friday 17 March.
The pilot took place in three key shopping areas:
- Bridge Road, Richmond – between the Town Hall and Eucalyptus Street
- St Georges Road and Best Street, North Fitzroy – Scotchmer Street area
- Gertrude Street, Fitzroy – between Smith and George streets
Information gathered from the trial will be used to develop Council’s overall digital strategy, which will outline the ways we will use technology to support Yarra’s business community. Development on the digital strategy is expected to be completed in 2017.
Free public Wi-Fi will continue to be available at our libraries and town halls.
We’d like to thank everyone who used the service or provided us with valuable feedback on their experiences.
In particular we’d like to acknowledge the businesses that hosted our Wi-Fi infrastructure or promoted the service to their customers.
